Flower pot thief (thieves?) caught on video.

As you may have heard from visiting the salon recently, or courtesy of the great people at the Phinneywood blog, two of our decorative flower pots were stolen from outside the salon on Wednesday, April 22nd – EARTH DAY, of all days!
Thanks to our gracious neighbors at the Sip n’ Ship, we have obtained video of the theft from their security cameras. The theft of at least one of the pots was boldly executed at around 7:30 pm, and took less than 30 seconds. As you can see in the video, it doesn’t appear to be a teen prank, (which we would have simply laughed about) although it is difficult to tell the age of the thief as he dashes out of what appears to be a Honda or Mazda SUV/crossover and back in again.

We’re not petty people – it’s just a couple of flower pots. But the pots were gifted to us by a customer who moved out of the country, and the flowers that were in them at the time of the theft were thoughtfully planted by one of our stylists, on her own time. We’re just a small business, whose occupants wanted to make our little stretch of sidewalk look nice for our customers and the neighborhood as a whole.

We certainly don’t expect our flowers to magically re-appear, but we won’t be replacing them either. We diligently haul our last remaining flower pot inside each night now, and back out again every morning. We’re certainly not going to do that with more than just the one remaining pot.

If you have any information regarding this incident that you’d like to enlighten us with, feel free to email us at: info@salonmercury.com, or call us at (206) 782-5201.

Making Progress

We’ve been hard at work these past few days, and are making lots of progress! We can’t wait to start showing you some photos of our newly renovated space. While we’re working, we’re already enjoying our new neighborhood.

We’ve been enjoying the coffee and company of our new neighbors, the Greenwood Sip n’ Ship, snacks from Ken’s Market, painting supplies and other sundries from the Greenwood True Value, and this morning we’re going to try brunch at Yanni’s (the website says they have Baklava waffles – are you kidding me?)

I’ve patronized all of these businesses occasionally over the years, but I’m really enjoying visiting all of them (and more to come, I’m sure) more often now that we’re neighbors.

We’d also like to thank the Phinneywood Blog for posting about our move this week – thank you for helping to spread our good news!

Happy Sunday everyone!
